Kheerganga

heerganga (also spelled Kheer Ganga) is a beautiful trekking destination located in the Parvati Valley, in the Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh, India. It’s especially popular among trekkers, backpackers, and nature lovers for its natural hot water springs, lush green meadows, and breathtaking views of the Himalayas.
🏞️ Key Highlights of Kheerganga:
1. Altitude:
Approximately 2,960 meters (9,711 feet) above sea level.
2. Starting Point of Trek:
The most common base point is Barshaini, a small village near Kasol. Other optional routes include Kalga and Tosh.
3. Trek Distance:
About 12–13 kilometers (one way) from Barshaini. It takes around 4–6 hours to complete depending on your pace and route.
4. Attractions:
Hot Water Spring (Parvati Kund): Natural sulphur hot water pool at the top, believed to have healing properties.
Shiva Temple: A small temple dedicated to Lord Shiva.
Scenic Views: Snow-capped mountains, waterfalls, and dense deodar forests along the trek.
5. Mythology & Name Origin:
According to legend, Lord Shiva meditated here for thousands of years. Goddess Parvati is said to have cooked “kheer” (sweet rice pudding) in the waters for her son Kartikeya, hence the name “Kheer Ganga”.
